From one OPRAH fan to another...
if you enjoy an occasional Oprah show, then please take the time to check this out and let me know what you think!
Yes, I admit it. If I turn on the TV during the day, it is at 4pm (which, by the way is a horrible hour to enjoy a show - dinner prep, a hungry child clinging to each leg, etc). I have always enjoyed The Oprah Show: "Dr. Oz" on what a fatty liver looks like, "Nate" and his decor secrets, and of course "How to avoid buying "mom jeans" and "are you wearing the right bra size?" shows. She has USUALLY avoided the usual "talk show" topics (if you know what I mean). I don't really get into the celebrity interviews and occasionally she will have something really strange about "finding"peace or joy or something. On those days, I will just turn off the TV. She talks about God often, but I never really know what she means or where she is going with it. Sadly, I have never paid that much attention to that, I just want to know what size bra to buy! WELL,
Our Wednesday night bulletin listed the following web site along with our "pray for the nation". Ben called me right away when he got the bulletin early Wednesday and checked out this web site. He has always laughed at my "Oprah following". Anyway, this site has a few videos and a promo for a book "Don't Drink the Kool-Aid". Ben, as a pastor had a coupon code to access the book online, so I read all 80 pgs that day. My stomach dropped as I watched the videos and read the book. If you have a few minutes, please check it out and tell me what you think of this whole thing. Thanks!!

I was a lot like you in this area till I watched this last week - I'm not going to support or open myself up for false teaching any more. It was the same with Dr Phil and me - some Bible truths, a lot of opinion...stopped watching that too about a year ago. I've know for wome time she definately influences many people every day.

I thought the first video seemed a little crazy and possibly over-board. Lots of people think lots of things about the end times so I was hesitant to go on possibly mistaken words out of context. However, the words coming out of her mouth in the second video were shocking. Not sure what to make of it all yet, but that was definitely a lot of heresy, lies, false teaching, etc. Not sure what to make of all of it yet. Thanks for posting it.

I also happened upon this video just the other day and I was awe-struck at her blatant rejection of Christ. Thanks for the link. I will be sure to share it with those in my realm. Still not sure how to take everything with the end times and Obama. I guess I am just thankful the Lord is really the one in control.

I had heard of this book that she was endorsing and just the very limited statements I had heard from it, I knew that it was the "new-agey" movement and would turn her off whenever she would start talking about this topic. I'm glad you put on that link so I could see parts of what they are discussing. Thanks for the information. It was good to see.

I am not a watcher of Oprah and never really have been. A friend of mine had sent me the second video and I watched it earlier today only to be amazed and somewhat annoyed by the many comments that were taken out of context of God's word. God makes no mistakes and He holds the universe in His powerful hands and I fully trust in that. This should open our eyes to witness more to those around us and make sure they hear the real gospel of Jesus Christ.

I too used to enjoy the occassional oprah show. However, I was reading through Proverbs a few months ago and was just struck by one of the verse that talked about getting advice from evil sources...and bam! it was like a tons of bricks hit my chest and I immediately knew that dr. Phil and Oprah both had to go. It was a tough decision since her organizing/financial/fashion shows were so great...and I really learned many useful tips from them.

However, my thinking was exactly what this video talks about. Her false claims of scripture are so severe...last year when she did the how on "the secret" I began to get very uneasy...and this year...Man she is just so blinded right now.

And unfortunately...lots of Christians don't realize the severity of what they are watching on TV until something major happens. We tend to compartmentalize this area...but this is one of the most influential avenues of our world today. Shame on us for being so ignorant and weak!
